Easy Chocolate Nice Cream
What do you need to start?
Equipment:
A blender
A bowl
A spoon
A knife
A freezer-safe container or freezer ziplock bag sized to fit the banana slices
Parchment paper
Ingredients for 1 Serving:
2-3 Bananas (to slice and freeze)
1 tbsp of Cocoa powder
Toppings:
Can be whatever you want!
Melted chocolate
Melted peanut butter
Whipped cream
Chopped fruit
Chopped nuts
Cocoa powder
Instructions:
Cut parchment papers to fit either the freezer-safe container or freezer ziplock bag.
Peel and slice 2-3 ripe bananas (Ripe bananas are sweeter and usually have brown spots).
Place the slices on the parchment papers. (This will prevent the banana slices from clumping together and will help them freeze individually and make blending them to a smooth texture later much easier).
Place the banana slices on the parchment paper in either the freezer-safe container or freezer ziplock bag and place in the freezer.
Freeze for at least one night or longer. (If you do not freeze long enough, when you blend the bananas, the texture will be more like liquid than like ice cream.)
Take the banana slices out of the freezer
Peel off the banana slices from the parchment paper and place in a blender.
Blend on medium or on level 2 if you have a Vitamix blender.
Stop blending when you don’t see movement anymore, turn off the blender, take a spoon and adjust the banana mixture. The texture will look clumpy at first, but don’t worry, we’ll get to the smooth ice cream-like texture soon!
Add 1 tbsp of cocoa powder (or more, if you like!)
Blend on high or on level 2 if you have a Vitamix. Stop blending when you don’t see movement anymore, turn off the blender, take a spoon and adjust the banana mixture, and continue this process until you have a smooth, creamy, ice-cream like texture!
Once the mixture is smooth and creamy, scoop out into a bowl and enjoy with whatever toppings you like (chopped peanuts, melted chocolate, whipped cream, etc.)!
